Front Sight
Anyone that has every had the opportunity pickup a handgun and shoot it on a range, has probably also heard that you you should focus on your front sight. The front sight – just as it sounds – is between your rear sights and the target. When aiming, you are supposed to line up your rear sights and front sights so that both are aligned at aimed at the intended target. The next part is a little trickier. Our eyes can only focus on one item at a time…so do you focus on the intended target…..the front sight…..or the rear sight.
We are to focus on the front sight, while letting everything else “blur”. clearer our vision is on the front sight, the higher the odds of an accurate shot. There are other elements involved but right now I am going to take this front sight concept a bit further.
Interesting if we focus primarily on one thing, we tend to get better results. Have you have noticed that in other parts of your life? In many ways the front sight of your handgun is analogous to your “true north”. My focusing on your values and on what is important to you, you are more likely to have your “shots” aligned with everything else you do.
If you have never taken the time to really define your top values in life, let me invite you to check out the blog on one of my other websites https://billbarnes.us/values/
The process of value clarification is beyond the scope of just business. It also helps you define what actions you are willing to do in a situation in which you might consider defending yourself, your home, and or other important people in your life. We will be discussing mindset at a future time, but defining your values ..your front sight of your life…. is really an important exercise to do. It is also important to periodically examine your life and determine if you are living consistent with those values and – why or why not. Have you changed your perspective on things?
